SUMOstar Technology LifeSensors has developed SUMOstar to enhance the production of fusion proteins, while resisting the proteolytic activity of endogenous SUMO proteases. SUMOstar fusion constructs are not processed in vivo, allowing for the same enhancement of protein expression, solubility, and stability afforded by SUMOpro. For specific recognition and cleavage of SUMOstar fusions in vitro, LifeSensors has also developed SUMOstar protease 1. With the exception of proline, SUMOstar protease 1 will cleave your fusion protein precisely between the C-terminus of SUMOstar and the N-terminus of the target protein. By recognizing the tertiary structure of the SUMOstar tag, this system virtually eliminates the ragged ends and non-specific cleavage often seen with other proteases. SUMOstar Technololgy for Mammalian Expression Systems If your requirement is over-expression and purification of a recombinant protein, SUMOstar may dramatically enhance overall expression levels, while protecting the host from potential toxicity associated with some gene products. The use of pM-secSUMOstar employs a mouse IgG kappa signal sequence to direct your protein for post-translational modification and convienent secretion into the media. Alternitively, pM-SUMOstar allows for cytosolic expression of recombinant SUMOstar fusions, whether it be for eventual purification, or for investigative study of cellular protein-protien interactions. |
