SUMOstar Technology

LifeSensors has developed SUMOstar to enhance the production fusion proteins, while resisting the proteolytic activity of endogenous SUMO proteases. SUMOstar fusion constructs are not processed in vivo, allowing for the same enhancement of protein expression, solubility, and stability afforded by SUMOpro. For specific recognition and cleavage of SUMOstar fusions in vitro, LifeSensors has also developed SUMOstar protease 1. With the exception of proline, SUMOstar protease 1 will cleave your fusion protein precisely between the C-terminus of SUMOstar and the N-terminus of the target protein. By recognizing the tertiary structure of the SUMOstar tag, this system virtually eliminates the ragged ends and non-specific cleavage often seen with other proteases.

SUMOstar Technology for Baculoviral Expression Vector Systems (BEVS)

If intracellular expression of the POI is desired, pI-SUMOstar is your choice for over-expression in a BEVS. However, if you require secretion from the cell, the use of pI-secSUMOstar will target your POI for processing and secretion to the media. In addition, both plasmid vectors are available either in ligation independent cloning (LIC) form, for the added speed and convince afforded from this technology, or in the more traditional circular form.

LifeSensors News

LifeSensors presented an overview of ubiquitin proteomics at the 3rd GTC Conference, Ubiquitin Research and Drug Discovery, Las Vegas, February 25-26th, 2013.
Complexity of ubiquitin pathways leads to frequent questions related to identification of ubiquitin pathway enzymes (E3s and DUBs) and their substrates. An overview of biochemical proteomics for drug discovery applications including Ubiquitin Protein Microarray Services from LifeSensors was presented by Christian Loch, Assistant Director, R&D.
