Expression Kits

LifeSensors offers three types of SUMO expression systems in E. coli. All three systems are built on a pET24 vector with T7 promoters, and are available with either ampicillin or kanamycin resistance selectable markers.

SUMOpro is the original yeast SUMO, which enhances the expression and solubility of your expressed protein. SUMOpro only works in prokaryotic systems, and is cleaved from your protein by SUMO Protease 1.

SUMOstar is a version of yeast SUMO that has been engineered for use in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Use SUMOstar to enhance expression and solubility of your protein in E. coil, and retain the ability to clone your SUMOstar-fusion into yeast, insect/BEVS and mammalian vectors for future eukaryotic expression. SUMOstar is cleaved from your protein by SUMOstar Protease 1.   

SUMOpro3 is based on the human SUMO-3 protein which is resistant to desumoylases found in eukaryotic cells. Use SUMOpro3 to enhance expression and solubility of your protein in E. coil, and retain the ability to clone your SUMOpro3-fusion into yeast (Pichia pastoris) for future eukaryotic expression. SUMOpro3 is cleaved from your protein by SUMO Protease 2.
